Bowlio is scheduled for Saturday, August 14th at Inca Lanes, 1250 West 16th Street in Yuma.  As with prior years, all net proceeds will be donated to the Rotary International Polio Plus fund.  Although I was not involved with the first Bowlio event in 2011, total net proceeds of $26,254 have been raised during the subsequent years (2013-2016, 2018 & 2019) and donated to the Polio Plus fund on behalf of all of the participating Rotary Clubs.

We are asking all of the Yuma Area Rotary Clubs to participate in this year’s Bowlio to raise money for the Polio Plus fund as well as compete for the “Mary McCloud Memorial Trophy” for the Highest Rotary Team Score.  This traveling trophy is currently held by the Yuma Foothills Rotary Club, but the San Luis FRONTERA Rotary Club is looking to reclaim this trophy at this year’s Bowlio tournament.  Of course, there is always stiff competition for the “Thomas Crapper Memorial Trophy” for the Lowest Rotary Team Score.  Please remember that a Rotary Club must have at least two active Rotary Club members on their team to qualify for the Rotary Team competition.
This year’s Bowlio will start earlier than prior years.  Registration/Check-In begins at noon with bowling starting at 1:00 pm.  The cost is still $30 per bowler, or $120 per team (four bowlers), which includes three games and bowling shoes.  Lane sponsorships are still $100 per lane, and if a club and/or business sponsor’s a team and a lane, the cost is still $200, a savings of $20.
We encourage anyone interested in participating in Bowlio to register as soon as possible (see attached flier/registration form) by completing and submitting their registration form to the Yuma Sunrise Rotary Club.  Those teams and sponsors that submit payments with their registration form will have an opportunity to select their lane at Inca Lanes on a first come, first served basis.  So the sooner you register and pay, the better your lane selection opportunity will be.  Pre-registration and early payment also facilitates easier check-in on August 14th.
Donations made to the Polio Plus fund for each club are based upon the amount of revenue derived from bowlers, teams, and lane sponsorships that each club brings in for Bowlio.  So please encourage everyone you know, and the businesses and organizations they are affiliated with, to participate in Bowlio to increase their club’s donation to the Polio Plus fund.
